Baby Bear and her REAL Pony!

Pin It Now!
Baby Bear will be at summer camp all summer and so she will not get to see our dog very much.  I told her that instead, she will get to have a pony for the summer.  I have been telling her that she gets a little horse called a pony for a few weeks.  She told me right away that her horse's name was Karat.

I had to go work at camp for a pre-camp day for new campers.  I was able to bring Baby Bear with me so that she could see what camp was like so that it was familiar for her when we come for the summer as a camper.  She got to stay with me as the kids came though the art station.  Baby Bear was so excited to see her 'friends' (the kids).

This shirt was mine when I was little!

After the kids left for the day, we walked over to the pony enclosure. There were 2 in there and they ran so fast to where we jumped the fence.

She thought that Karat knew that she was coming since they ran over to her.  She got to pet them both and decided that the white one is Karat.

She can't wait to go back and she her Pony!

Here is Karat rolling like a dog on it's back.

Dog Shaming {an admission from my dog}

Pin It Now!
I know that pet shaming is so passe, but I saw some really funny cat ones today and decided to shame my dog. I love my dog, but she has been a little crazy lately.  She is a DOG and not a lap dog like my late Doxie.  Ever since Mini came on the scene, she is super sensitive.  She got sent home from the groomers because she was growling and they did not want to take any chances. (she has being going there for years to get a mani/pedi and a bath)

dog shaming growling at the groomer

I was so surprised when she recently started getting scared during storms.

Since I couldn't walk the dog with Baby Bear in the winter very easily, Mr. BBH took on the job.

dog shaming

There were a few more that I wanted to do, but my dog was onto me and kept walking away!

Here are some others that also apply to her:

I am mean to other dogs when I am on the leash

I steal food from babies

I jump though the pass-through window into the kitchen when nobody is looking.

If I breathe in your face, you may pass out from my breath.

I bark in my sleep..very often

This is one of the funny cat-shaming photos that I came across today and laughed out load at this one

cat shaming

I have to admit that I am NOT a cat person, so most of them I am just laughing at them. But this one, with my late Doxie Max, this was so true and I could totally relate!!

Now if only it was appropriate to do this to your kids...

Baby Bear's hair is finally growing!!

Pin It Now!
Let me just say..Baby Bear is so adorable even without hair!

I have been going crazy now that she actually started getting some hair BUT it was at an awkward length but it still would not fit into a pony tail or stay back in a barrette and it was too small to cut her hair to tame it!

She has a double cowlick on her head which makes it perfect for pig tails!! Or "kookie-oat" in Hebrew

Kid Friendly Banana Bread Cookies~ Wheat Free & Sugar Free

Kid Friendly Banana Bread Cookies~ Wheat Free & Sugar Free
kid friendly cookie recipe photo

Once you have all the ingredients  these take 5 minutes to make them and they taste like Banana Bread Cookies.  I thought about putting some cocoa powder in them to see if they would taste more like chocolate but have not tried it yet.  Baby Bear LOVES cookies, so I wanted to be able to give her a treat that I can feel good about!

cookie ingrediants

Ingredients
Preheat to 350

3 mashed bananas~as brown as possible
2 cups old fashion rolled oats
1/3 apple sauce
1/4 cup almond milk
1/3 cup quinoa flour or almond flour
1/2 cup raisins
1 tbl vanilla
1 tbl cinnamon
2 tbl coconut oil

I also like to add ground flax into everything so feel free to add a sprinkling! I also have made it without the apple sauce before.

cookie batter with beaters

Dump all the ingredients together except the oats and raisins.  You can put it in your heavy duty blender, Cuisinart or some beaters like I did to speed it up.  Otherwise it is hard to get the bananas so well mixed.

Mix in your oats.

and raisins, then take an ice cream scoop to get nice even cookies and flatten them out.

Bake at 350 for 20 minutes.  Sometimes you need to cook them a little longer, or let them cool in your oven to keep them cooking.  They are MUCH tastier after they are totally cooled down.

Enjoy them!!

Giving Babies first Foods

Pin It Now!
I know that the traditional first foods are cereals like rice cereal but that sounds kind of weird to me personally.  Why would you give your baby something that is highly processed?  USA Today reports: "White rice -- after processing strips away fiber, vitamins and other nutrients -- is a 'nutritional disaster' ... White rice and flour turn to sugar in the body 'almost instantly,' ... raising blood sugar and insulin levels."

I gave Baby Bear fruits and veggies way before she had any grains.  Baby Bear did not start solid foods until 6 months old, but Mini started showing signs of wanting to eat earlier.  She began to imitate with her mouth the way that we were eating and she was also really into looking at food. I wanted to wait until 6 months, but she wanted it now!

At 4 months- she actually yells "ah ah ah ah" when she sees us eating and she is hungry.  {It is not the same sound she makes when see wants to nurse or drink her bottle.  That is more of a "hu hu hu" sound and she jumps excitedly for that.} She know what she wants and will not eat something that she doesn't like (store bought baby veggies were a no-go. I purchased some so that I could keep them in the diaper bag, but she is so picky).

My crazy Grandma was giving me a hard time about feeding Mini natural foods, crazy huh!!  It's like saying to someone eating an apple that they should eat a TV dinner instead! How could fresh unprocessed avocado, banana, or sweet potato be bad!?

 fresh made sweet potato!

When did you start to give your babies solid foods? What kinds of foods did they like?

Take indoor activities OUTSIDE!

Pin It Now!
Baby Bear LOVES to color, so since it was so nice outside, we just decided to take it outdoors!

This is outside my parents new house (lake views from both sides of the house! Incredible!)

An easel is such an easy way to color outside and still be active. Since we were helping my parents to unpack, we reused some cardboard for Baby Bear to draw on.  It makes a cool sound too when you draw since it has the ridges on it.
